Born from a heart-to-heart with our top trad climbing athletes BD Hazel Findlay, Carlo Traversi, Sam Elias and Babsi Zangerl, the Camalot Z4 is the realization of a dream: to have a single stem cam that stays rigid in the hand, but flexes once positioned. Here is the patent-pending RigidFlex stem. Thanks to independent floating trigger wires, the Camalot Z4 does not bend when under tension and retracted, but once positioned allows the stem to move, ensuring a positioning that stays put and does not walk when pulled directionally. The stem on the larger sizes also uses a double braided cable construction that provides uniform bending in all directions, while single cable construction is implemented on the smaller sizes to prevent deformation when the trigger is pulled hard and to reduce the profile of the trigger. Featuring a head width similar to that of our old Camalot C3 design, but with 4 sandblasted lobes for better holding power, the Z4s are not only an upgrade, but are also available in smaller sizes, starting at #0, our smallest cam ever made, and ranging up to .75, allowing you to dial up the rack, whether you're looking for a crack of spikes in the desert, or going light and fast in the Bugs.
The new standard when it comes to single-stem cams, the Camalot Z4 features our revolutionary RigidFlex stem design, which, as the name suggests, remains rigid during positioning but flexes when climbing, providing easy handling and less walking for solid positioning you can rely on.
